Quick Summary: Hout Bay Dojo has always enjoyed combining our gashukus with the Lakeside Dojo - and this year was so much fun!

2020 has offered little opportunity for training as a group so our November Gashuku was all the more special for the strange times we’re in.

Our summer Gashuku, which was due to take place in March this year, had to be called off due to the Covid pandemic. As soon as was viably possible, all preventative measures were taken to ensure safe training for this Gashuku – and we hit the road!

The Gashuku is now behind us, but we’ll remember this one for a while, not least because of the unprecedented times and circumstances we had to work with.

Said Sensei John, “It has always been a huge success with our young samurai warriors, but this year it was particularly encouraging to see how many new and younger members attended.

The opportunity to exercise alongside the sea and enjoy the fresh air and mountain views was extremely revitalizing. The obstacle course was a hit too. This weekend was a total win with an exciting change of scenery.”

Hout Bay Dojo has always enjoyed combining our gashukus with the Lakeside Dojo and we look forward to many more of these adventures together.

Our next planned summer gashuku will be at the American venue in late March 2021 – watch this space for details!
