SA Champs – Let’s go, Hout Bay, let’s go

The South African Championships are around the corner.  The SA Champs competition is a very important event in the Samurai Karate calendar.  This is where the selection for the South African squad for the World Championships in Sweden next year in July happens.  Competitors train for the whole year leading up to the SA Champs in the hopes of being invited to the SA squad training sessions.

The Hout Bay dojo hopefuls got together last Saturday for a day of training. The day was aimed at making sure that the first time national competitors knew what to expect on the day of the championships and to refresh the memories of the rest of the team.

Sensei John Shaw put the team through their paces in kata and kumite, giving valuable advice to our South African squad hopefuls.

Good luck to the Hout Bay team for the South African Championships on Saturday the 16th of September. Entrance is free so please come and support our Hout Bay karateka, both young and slightly less young, at the Wynberg Military base, Sports complex on the day.

Let’s go, Hout Bay, let’s go!

Bring home the gold.
